Grants
We offer grants to organizations
and individuals for projects that will benefit the goals of the
Portland Bead Society. In addition, we offer individual scholarships
to members for local classes, bead shows or classes given by our
visiting speakers; these grants are offered in the form of a rebate.
Grants are approved by a vote of attending members annually at our
March meeting. Applications for grants must be received by the first
week in January. For more information and to request an application,

Advertising
To advertise in either our newsletter or on the
website, you will need to be a member of Portland Bead Society.
If you are not already a member, there is an online form you can
fill out and print on our website: http://beadport.com/Application.html.
Newsletter advertising material must be received pre-paid by the 20th of the month preseding publication.
Newsletters are published January, February, April, June, September and October.
There is no card or newsletter in July, August or December.

Newsletter
Our Newsletter advertising rates are:
- 1/2 page (4 3/4" x 3 1/2") - $70/issue
- 1/4 page (4 3/4" x 3 1/2") - $25/issue or $120/year
- Business card (2" x 3 1/2") - $15.00/issue or $72/year
The deadline for the newsletter is midnight of Wednesday's general meeting of the month prior to publication (the
general meeting occurs on the 3rd Wednesday of the month-see our
Program page for schedule).This means
that both your payment and camera-ready or digital artwork/text
must be submitted by this date. The newsletter is published 6 times
per year.
You can send the digital file directly to
advertising@beadport.com, camera-ready ads should accompany your payment, which
goes to Delta Waldt, our Advertising Coordinator (see our address
above). If you are sending a digital file, the payment also needs
to be sent to Delta with a note letting her know that you are sending
the digital file directly to Merle.
There will be an additional equal charge for any
artwork/typesettting work that we need to do if you do not submit
a full digital image or camera-ready work. The digital image must
be a minimum of 300 dpi, and must be in black & white - no color
or grayscale images, should be in .tif or .eps format. If you are
going to submit a scanned image of your business card, then we can't
be responsible for the clarity of the image in final print, it would
be best to send the image file that your commercial printer used
to create the card - this would likely already be in .tif or .eps
format. Sometimes the paper used in a business card is textured
or doesn't scan as well as we would like.

Website
- Full Website advertising is $65/year and includes
a button link on all the main pages and a detailed link with address,
phone, general info, etc. on our Links
page. We wll use your own button link, which should be 72 - 96
dpi, and no larger than 125 X 75 pixels, if you like, I can design
a button for you based on your website logo.
